The role of Activities Assistant provides the residents with a range of stimulating recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities, which are client centred, age appropriate and are in keeping with Jewish Care’s philosophy of care. Supporting residents in leading as independent a life as possible in a caring and supportive atmosphere, whilst ensuring that dignity is maintained. 

Working in consultation with residents, families and colleagues to develop and implement a programme of stimulating activities, including outings, that will meet the social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs of residents and enable them to lead as full a life as possible. 

This post is working 24 hours per week Monday to Friday with extra hours available on weekends during festivals, and fixed term for 12 months 

What you’ll be doing: 

Determining and maintaining agreed standards of social care to meet the needs of each resident, using a person-centred planned programme of care for each resident to promote meaningful lives. 
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities. 
Encouraging residents to maintain their links with the Jewish community and to participate in social and recreational events outside the home. 
Involving the community in the home and the residents in the life of the community. 
Managing volunteers, who assist with activities and outings, ensuring a supportive and appropriate framework is managed and maintained. 

What you’ll bring to Jewish Care: 

Relevant qualification within Health & Social Care or willingness to work towards. 
Experience of working in the field of recreational/social activity 
Experience of working with individual clients and with groups 
Experience of working with older people with varying abilities and needs who may also suffer from Dementia 
Experience working in partnership with families, carers, volunteers, and community members 
Awareness of physical and mental health issues affecting older people

Jewish Care has now received planning permission to develop a brand new, first-class campus in Redbridge for the East London and Essex Jewish community, following approval of our planning application. The new development will be on the site of the current Redbridge Jewish Community Centre (RJCC), formerly known as Sinclair House.

The site in Redbridge will comprise a beautiful, first-rate, purpose-built 66-bed care home, which our Vi & John Rubens House in Gants Hill will relocate to, a wonderful, first-class, modern, and fully accessible community centre space and a centre for people living with dementia.
