This is an exciting opportunity to join Jewish Care as we launch our new Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Strategy. The role will contribute to strengthening how we understand, measure and improve the impact of our services.

As Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer, you will play an important role in helping teams across Jewish Care use evidence, data and lived experience to understand what is working, identify opportunities for improvement and translate learning into action.

Working as part of our Impact and Insights Team, you will provide practical support to colleagues across a diverse range of services. You will help teams define meaningful outcomes, develop appropriate measures, collect and analyse evidence, and use findings to improve service delivery.

The role combines research, evaluation, analysis and organisational learning. You will work with both qualitative and quantitative information, produce clear and accessible reports, and support with facilitating learning sessions and workshops with colleagues.

You will also help build confidence and capability of colleagues across Jewish Care, so that they do not simply collect and report data, but also use it to learn, adapt and continuously improve Jewish Care’s services.

This post is working an average of 36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday

What you’ll be doing

You will:

  • Support the design and delivery of evaluations, research and learning activities, using approaches such as surveys, interviews, focus groups and case studies.
  • Gather and analyse qualitative evidence and support quantitative analysis where required.
  • Work with service teams to translate findings into practical recommendations and actions, for example through facilitating learning sessions and reflective practice
  • Support the implementation of Jewish Care’s MEL Strategy across a wide range of services.
  • Contribute to supporting teams to develop their MEL plans through defining meaningful outcomes and indicators, and develop service-level theories of change.
  • Contribute to clear and accessible evaluation reports, presentations and summaries for operational teams, senior leaders and trustees.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Impact and Insights Team, including the Insight and Data Analyst, to bring together qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Help colleagues build their confidence and skills in monitoring, evaluation, evidence gathering and using insight for improvement.
  • Ensure the voices and lived experiences of service users, carers, volunteers and staff are meaningfully reflected in evaluation and learning activity.
  • Build effective relationships across Jewish Care and work collaboratively with operational and corporate teams.

About you

We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical and reflective, with a genuine interest in understanding what works and why.

You will have experience of research and/or evaluation, including data collection, analysis and interpretation, together with strong qualitative research skills. This is predominantly a qualitative not quantitative role, however you will need to have experience of building data sets, conducting descriptive analysis in packages like Excel, data visualisation and be able to speak confidently about data.

You will also be confident facilitating discussions, collaborating, building relationships and supporting change with colleagues across different professional backgrounds.

You will ideally have a relevant degree or equivalent experience in research, evaluation, social research, public policy, social sciences, health, social care or a related discipline. Experience of monitoring and evaluation, service improvement or research within adult social care would be particularly valuable.

Above all, you will be pragmatic and solutions-focused, able to balance methodological quality with what is realistic and useful in practice. You will be committed to service improvement, evidence-based learning, inclusion, and ensuring that the voices of people who use our services are heard.

You will share Jewish Care's values of Excellence, Innovation, Compassion, Inclusiveness and Integrity.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to help shape how Jewish Care understands and demonstrates the difference its services make.

You will work across a diverse organisation, partnering with colleagues to turn evidence into meaningful insight and practical improvements that can make a real difference to the people we support.

If you are passionate about research, evaluation and learning, and want to use your skills to help improve health and social care services, we would love to hear from you.
